Job Overview
RSPCA is seeking a talented Content Writer with the ability to combine creativity, clarity, and compliance within a highly regulated industry environment. The role focuses on developing engaging and trustworthy content that reflects the brand’s warm and compassionate voice towards pets and their owners.
The successful candidate will contribute to a wide range of content projects, including product documentation, blog articles, and marketing campaign copy. Responsibilities include ensuring technical accuracy, maintaining strong SEO and AIO optimisation standards, and creating content that captures the caring and pet-focused identity associated with the RSPCA brand across Australia.
Core Responsibilities
Content Creation and SEO/AIO Optimisation
- Researching and producing SEO-optimised blog content to increase organic traffic and improve AI platform visibility.
- Collaborating with subject matter experts to maintain technical accuracy and brand consistency.
- Enhancing new and existing content for search engines and large language models, including ChatGPT
- Monitoring analytics, search performance, and keyword trends to strengthen content strategies and audience reach.
Technical and Regulated Writing
- Creating and maintaining compliant content for policy documents, Product Disclosure Statements (PDS), brochures, and customer communications.
- Simplifying complex insurance information into clear and accessible language while preserving regulatory accuracy.
- Ensuring all written materials align with Australian financial services legislation and consumer protection standards.
Creative Copywriting Support
- Assisting the creative team with campaign copy, email marketing content, landing pages, and social media messaging.
- Maintaining a consistent brand voice and tone across all communication platforms for RSPCA Insurance,
Skills & Requirements
- The candidate is expected to have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in content writing, ideally within technical or regulated industries.
- A strong understanding of SEO principles and AIO (AI optimisation), including how content impacts visibility across search engines and AI-driven platforms, is essential.
- Exceptional written English skills, including grammar accuracy, editing, and proofreading proficiency.
- The role requires a self-motivated, disciplined professional who can work effectively in a remote environment with flexibility across different time zones.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines within a fast-paced, collaborative work setting is essential.
Bonus Skills
- A diploma or qualification in English, Journalism, Marketing, or Communications is advantageous.
- Familiarity with Australian insurance or financial services regulations will be considered an added advantage.
- Understanding of accessibility standards and inclusive content creation practices is beneficial.
- A genuine interest in animals, or prior experience writing for pet-focused audiences, is highly desirable.
Where You’ll Work
The role offers a flexible working arrangement, with the option to work remotely from anywhere within South Africa or from the office located in the scenic town of George, situated in the heart of the Garden Route.
Working hours are partially aligned with Australian business time zones, running from 06:00 to 15:00 South African time. This schedule allows for improved work-life balance, providing extended personal time later in the day.
