An opportunity is available for experienced English teachers with a strong understanding of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) to deliver engaging online English and SAT preparation lessons via Zoom from home.
The role is ideal for educators who enjoy teaching without the added responsibility of lesson planning or grading. All teaching materials are supplied, allowing teachers to focus entirely on delivering high-quality lessons and supporting student success.
Candidates should have access to:
- A laptop or desktop computer
- A reliable internet connection and stable power supply
- A webcam, microphone, and a plain, solid-color background
The position offers a flexible work schedule, enabling teachers to choose hours that suit their availability. Workloads range from a minimum of 16 hours per month to a maximum of 30 hours per week, making it suitable for those seeking either a dependable part-time role or an additional source of income.
Core Responsibilities
- Deliver pre-prepared SAT English and reading comprehension lessons that incorporate STEM-related topics.
- Facilitate live online classes via Zoom and provide concise, constructive feedback to students following each session.
- Maintain availability for scheduled teaching sessions, with shifts assigned in advance and confirmed with the teacher.
Skills & Requirements
- Native-level English language proficiency
- A bachelor’s degree, or current enrolment towards a degree, in Communications, Modern Languages, English, Education, Linguistics, Literature, or a related field
- A TEFL certificate or an equivalent teaching qualification will also be considered
- At least one year of experience teaching English as a foreign language
- An interest in, or foundational knowledge of, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) subjects, including high school-level content
- Must currently reside in South Africa
