Job Overview
The company is seeking an experienced SEO Manager to lead the client-facing side of its organic search operations. This strategic leadership position focuses on overseeing SEO initiatives, maintaining quality standards, and ensuring exceptional client communication rather than carrying out day-to-day technical SEO tasks.
The successful candidate will serve as the primary point of contact for clients, delivering strategic guidance during meetings and written communications while reviewing work to ensure the highest quality before it reaches clients. They will also provide leadership and accountability for the SEO team, ensuring projects are delivered accurately and on schedule.

Core Responsibilities
Client Relationship Management
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients on all SEO-related matters, leading meetings, presenting campaign progress with clear examples, and managing the organic search relationship from strategy through to delivery.
- Ensure every report and client deliverable meets the highest quality standards by demonstrating completed work against agreed contractual deliverables, supported by relevant URLs, screenshots, timelines, and measurable evidence rather than relying on high-level summaries or vanity metrics.
- Deliver professional, insightful, and authoritative written and verbal communications that clearly explain campaign performance, strategy, and recommendations.
- Identify and present proactive growth opportunities that extend beyond traditional SEO metrics, helping clients maximize their digital visibility and long-term performance.
Quality Assurance & Team Accountability
- Review and approve SEO reports, deliverables, and campaign outputs before they are shared with clients to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
- Identify and resolve gaps, inconsistencies, or missing deliverables before they impact the client experience.
- Monitor team performance, ensuring SEO specialists meet quality expectations and project deadlines through regular follow-up and accountability.
Strategic Leadership
- Oversee the complete contractual scope of every client account, ensuring all agreed deliverables are monitored, completed, and supported with clear evidence of execution.
- Develop comprehensive search strategies that extend beyond conventional SEO by incorporating customer journey optimization, Answer Engine Optimization (AEO), Reddit and community engagement, and AI-driven search visibility, including Large Language Model (LLM) sentiment.
- Provide strategic direction for client accounts while collaborating with SEO specialists and delivery teams to convert business objectives into actionable implementation plans.
- Continuously assess client accounts to identify potential risks, performance gaps, and opportunities for improvement across the portfolio.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Provide strategic oversight for the SEO function by guiding SEO specialists and delivery teams while focusing on quality assurance and overall client satisfaction rather than hands-on technical execution.
- Work closely with internal teams to ensure client strategies are effectively translated into operational tasks and delivered according to plan.
- Support organizational efficiency by overseeing the client-facing SEO function, enabling senior leadership to focus on broader business priorities.
Skills & Requirements
Experience
- Demonstrates 5+ years of professional SEO experience, with a strong background in managing client relationships, leading strategy discussions, and presenting campaign performance beyond standard reporting.
- Proven experience overseeing, reviewing, or quality-assuring the work of SEO team members across multiple client accounts to ensure consistent delivery and high standards.
- Possesses a solid understanding of technical, on-page, and off-page SEO, enabling the ability to evaluate campaign quality and provide strategic guidance without performing day-to-day implementation.
Skills & Competencies
- Exhibits strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to assess each client’s unique business needs and develop tailored SEO strategies rather than relying on generic or automated solutions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex SEO concepts clearly, using practical examples that strengthen client confidence and understanding.
- Strong knowledge of emerging search trends, including Answer Engine Optimization (AEO), AI and Large Language Model (LLM) search visibility, and online brand sentiment across platforms such as Reddit.

About the Role
This position is focused on strategic leadership, quality assurance, and client relationship management rather than hands-on technical SEO implementation. It is also not a traditional people management role with direct reports. Instead, the successful candidate will provide oversight, ensure the quality of SEO deliverables, and take ownership of the client experience while guiding internal teams.

- Establish themselves as the trusted strategic advisor and primary SEO contact for all assigned client accounts.

Within the First 12 Months

- Take full ownership of the company’s SEO oversight function, ensuring strategic excellence across all client accounts.
