A fast-growing digital sports platform, Sporty Group, is looking for a Mid–Senior Social Media Manager to lead its global social media strategy. This is a hybrid role open to South African candidates, offering the opportunity to work in a high-performance, football-focused environment.
This position is ideal for someone who understands both the culture of football and the mechanics of performance-driven social media. The successful candidate will take ownership of content strategy and execution, ensuring that social channels remain timely, engaging, and commercially effective. Working across multiple teams, including marketing, product, and design, the role combines creative storytelling with data-led decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Social Strategy & Execution
- Develop and implement social media strategies aligned with brand goals
- Manage content calendars around major football events such as English Premier League, UEFA Champions League, La Liga, and Africa Cup of Nations
- Translate trending football narratives into engaging, high-impact content
Content Creation & Community Growth
- Create and publish content across platforms including Instagram, TikTok, X, Facebook, YouTube Shorts, and Telegram
- Manage community engagement, including comments, messages, and moderation
- Deliver real-time content during matches, breaking news, and trending moments
Brand & Audience Development
- Contribute to storytelling through highlights, football culture content, and commentary-driven formats
- Develop scalable content series that drive retention and audience growth
Partnerships & Localisation
- Collaborate with influencers, creators, and sports personalities
- Support campaign activations across paid and organic channels
- Identify opportunities to localise content for global and regional audiences
Performance & Reporting
- Monitor key metrics such as engagement, reach, conversions, and sentiment
- Produce regular reports with actionable insights
- Test and optimise content formats, timing, and distribution strategies
Collaboration
- Work closely with internal teams to maintain quality and speed
- Provide guidance to junior team members where needed
- Ensure efficient and scalable content workflows
Candidate Profile
- 3–6+ years of experience in social media management (sports or football content preferred)
- Strong understanding of sports betting culture and audience behaviour
- Deep knowledge of football and global competitions
- Strong grasp of major social platforms and their content dynamics
- Data-driven mindset with the ability to use analytics to improve performance
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-output environment
