Job Overview
An opportunity is available for experienced English teachers with a strong understanding of STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) to deliver engaging online lessons for an SAT preparation project. Classes are conducted remotely through Zoom, allowing educators to teach from the comfort of their own homes while enjoying a flexible work schedule.
Teachers are able to set their own hours and work from virtually anywhere, provided they have access to a laptop or computer, a reliable internet connection and power supply, as well as a webcam, microphone, and plain-coloured background for professional online teaching sessions.
This role is ideal for educators who are passionate about teaching but prefer not to spend time creating lesson plans or grading assignments. All teaching materials are supplied, enabling teachers to focus entirely on delivering lessons and motivating students.
Flexible working arrangements are available, making the role suitable for those seeking either an additional source of income or a consistent part-time opportunity. Working hours can range from a minimum of 16 hours per month up to 30 hours per week.
Core Responsibilities
- Deliver pre-prepared SAT English and reading comprehension lessons that incorporate STEM-related topics and concepts.
- Conduct live online classes through Zoom and provide students with concise feedback following each session.
- Maintain availability for scheduled teaching shifts, which are arranged in advance and confirmed with the teacher beforehand.
Skills & Requirements
- Native-level proficiency in the English language is essential.
- Candidates should hold a Bachelor’s degree or currently be studying towards a qualification in Communications, Modern Languages, English, Education, Linguistics, Literature, or a related field.
- Applicants with a recognized TEFL qualification or equivalent certification will also be considered.
- A minimum of one year’s experience teaching English as a foreign language is required.
- An interest in, or general knowledge of, STEM-related subjects at secondary school or introductory level will be advantageous.
- Applicants must currently reside in South Africa.
