Core Responsibilities
- Design and develop new applications leveraging Python, TypeScript, JavaScript, GStreamer, and Docker.
- Create tools for video storage, data analysis, and visualization.
- Maintain and optimise CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI.
- Collaborate closely with researchers, hardware engineers, and cross-functional teams.
- Lead the migration from legacy systems to modern architectures.
- Manage projects end-to-end, from concept through to deployment.
Tech Stack
- Backend: Python (Flask/FastAPI, CLI tools) and Shell scripting
- Front-end: TypeScript with Web Components, using minimal frameworks
- Operations: Docker, GitLab CI, and a Linux-first approach
- Video: GStreamer and FFmpeg
- Storage: S3-compatible object storage and early-stage Apache Iceberg
- Cloud & Infrastructure: Combination of bare-metal and lightweight cloud deployments
- Data Formats: JSON, CSV, Markdown, and MCAP
Skills & Requirements
- Over three years of professional experience in software development.
- Proficiency in Python, Docker, and Linux, including command-line interface, process management, and debugging.
- Familiarity with video and audio frameworks such as GStreamer or FFmpeg.
- Experience working with automation and data systems.
- A keen interest in scientific tools, hardware integration, or audiovisual systems.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
Location
The role is fully remote, with candidates expected to reside in regions that align with the Pacific, Central, or Eastern U.S. time zones to facilitate seamless collaboration with clients and team members.
