A global financial services company is seeking a UI Designer to join its team on a 9-month fixed-term contract. This is a hybrid opportunity based in Cape Town, South Africa, offering the chance to design modern digital experiences for financial products while working alongside UX, product, and development teams.
About the Role
The UI Designer will be responsible for creating visually engaging, responsive website interfaces for digital products within the financial services sector. The role focuses on producing high-quality user interface designs, maintaining design consistency, and supporting the delivery of intuitive digital experiences that align with accessibility standards and brand guidelines.
This position is ideal for an experienced designer with a strong portfolio, advanced Figma skills, and experience working with design systems.
What This Role Entails
User Interface Design
The successful candidate will design responsive website interfaces for financial digital products, ensuring designs are visually appealing, user-friendly, and aligned with modern UI best practices.
Design Systems & Prototyping
The role involves working extensively in Figma to create design files, interactive prototypes, reusable components, and documentation while contributing to the company’s evolving design system.
Collaboration
The UI Designer will work closely with UX designers, developers, product managers, and WebOps teams to translate requirements into polished user interfaces and support successful implementation.
Quality Assurance & Documentation
Responsibilities include preparing detailed handover documentation, conducting visual quality assurance checks, and reviewing live pages to ensure designs are implemented accurately.
Accessibility & Consistency
The role requires maintaining consistency across digital products by applying design tokens, following accessibility standards, and supporting inclusive design practices.

Requirements for This Role
• 3–5+ years of experience in UI or website design
• Experience designing digital products within the financial services industry (banking, fintech, insurance, or investment platforms)
• Strong portfolio showcasing modern website design projects
• Advanced proficiency in Figma, including components, auto layout, variants, responsive design, and prototyping
• Experience working with design systems
• Good understanding of UX principles and collaboration with UX teams
• Strong knowledge of typography, layouts, spacing, grids, and digital branding
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Ability to manage projects independently and meet deadlines
Advantageous Skills
• Experience using Token Studio
• Knowledge of accessibility and inclusive design standards
• Familiarity with financial compliance or regulated industry requirements
• Basic understanding of HTML and CSS
Location
Hybrid – Cape Town, South Africa (4 days in-office per week).
