A cloud consulting company is seeking a Solutions Architect / Consultant to design and deliver modern cloud solutions for international clients across the UK and US. This is a hybrid opportunity based in Cape Town, South Africa, combining technical architecture work with client-facing consulting responsibilities.
About the Role
This role focuses on designing scalable, secure, and cost-effective cloud architectures, primarily on AWS, while also working across Azure and other cloud environments.
The successful candidate will act as a technical lead for client accounts, supporting both solution design and business growth through cloud optimisation, migration projects, and infrastructure modernisation.
The role combines deep technical engineering with commercial consulting, making it ideal for someone who enjoys both architecture design and client engagement.
What This Role Entails
Cloud Architecture & Design
The Solutions Architect will design and deliver enterprise-grade cloud solutions across compute, networking, storage, and database systems, ensuring high availability, performance, and security.
Infrastructure & Automation
The role involves developing and reviewing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform, as well as supporting cloud automation and deployment best practices.
Cloud Optimisation & Security
A key focus of the role is improving cost efficiency (FinOps), security posture, and system reliability through rightsizing, architecture improvements, and modern cloud security tools.
Client Engagement & Consulting
The successful candidate will act as a trusted technical advisor to clients, supporting QBRs, solution presentations, roadmap planning, and identifying opportunities for upselling and business growth.
Migrations & Technical Delivery
The role includes leading cloud migrations, system modernisation projects, and ensuring operational readiness through documentation, runbooks, and knowledge transfer.

Requirements for This Role
• Strong experience with AWS (AWS Solutions Architect certification preferred)
• 3+ years of experience working with Microsoft Azure
• 2+ years of experience with Terraform or Infrastructure as Code tools
• Experience with Cloudflare or similar web security and performance tools
• Proven ability to design enterprise-grade cloud architectures
• Strong client-facing and consultative communication skills
• Experience with cloud migrations and modernisation projects
• Commercial awareness and ability to align technical solutions with business goals
