A leading South African Telco brand is seeking a Mid-Level Social Media Copywriter with a sharp eye for trends and a natural flair for words that stop audiences mid-scroll. This role calls for someone who thrives on creativity, knows how to spin cultural moments into engaging branded content, and can confidently turn briefs into ideas that feel fresh, relevant, and impactful.
Key Responsibilities
- Craft Bold Copy: Develop platform-first copy across posts, stories, reels, TikToks, and other social formats that resonate with audiences.
- Drive Creative Execution: Transform briefs into engaging social content concepts that are on-brand, culturally relevant, and timely.
- Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Partner with designers, strategists, and community managers to deliver cohesive content that works visually and verbally.
- Spot & Leverage Trends: Stay ahead of cultural shifts, local memes, and digital behaviours to guide the brand’s social voice.
- Social Listening: Monitor online conversations and identify opportunities for reactive content and community engagement.
- Support Campaigns: Contribute compelling copy and ideas for social-first campaigns, activations, and integrated brand initiatives.
- Maintain Quality: Ensure accuracy in tone, grammar, and local vernacular while keeping content sharp and engaging.
- Hands-On Approach: Get involved with reactive posting, agile content creation, and real-time publishing when needed.
What the Candidate Brings
- 2–4 years of proven experience in social media copywriting, digital content creation, or a related creative field.
- A strong portfolio showcasing engaging, platform-specific work across various formats.
- A deep understanding of what drives engagement online, whether it’s humour, timing, or cultural resonance.
- Versatility in adapting tone and style for different platforms and audiences.
- Passion for digital culture, South African trends, and social media storytelling.
- A proactive, solution-driven mindset with the ability to work under pressure.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills to handle multiple deadlines.
- Bonus: Proficiency in isiXhosa, isiZulu, or other South African languages for added authenticity.
