TeamUpdraft, the global team behind some of the world’s most widely used WordPress plugins, is seeking a skilled Web Developer. Their plugins, trusted by over 5 million WordPress website owners, are renowned for their reliability and performance.

Job Overview

This role is with WP Overnight, part of the TeamUpdraft family. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in WooCommerce, along with proficiency in PHP, JavaScript, and WordPress.

The position offers flexible working hours up to 40 per week and is fully remote, allowing candidates to work from anywhere. TeamUpdraft requires only 4 hours of daily overlap with UK working hours.

Core Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with the development team to implement new features, address bug fixes, and enhance the existing codebase.
  • Develops clean, efficient, and secure code using PHP, JavaScript, and WordPress libraries.
  • Creates inline documentation for code to ensure clarity and maintainability.
  • Conducts testing of code and produces comprehensive testing guides.
  • Manages their own workload to complete assigned tasks effectively.
  • Independently or collaboratively researches and resolves technical issues with other developers and the support team.
  • Responsibilities may vary depending on experience and alignment with the team’s ongoing projects.

Skills & Requirements

  • Proficiency in PHP, including experience with the latest frameworks and libraries.
  • Proven experience in WordPress plugin development.
  • Strong background in WooCommerce development.

Desirable Experience:

  • Familiarity with JavaScript / jQuery.
  • Experience with GitHub, GitLab, or Git (though this can be quickly learned by developers familiar with alternatives such as SVN).
  • Knowledge of React.

Working Environment

  • Flexible Working: Team members can work remotely from home, from a shared workspace in Newport, Wales, or from a local workspace with costs covered by the company. Work hours are flexible, with only a 4-hour daily overlap with UK time required for team collaboration.
