Job Description

The appointed Social Media Manager will oversee the strategic planning and implementation of a unified content and engagement approach across platforms including Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, and an upcoming blog associated with the @PrEPRingInfo brand (soon to undergo rebranding). The core objective of the role is to enhance visibility and foster audience interaction centred on the PrEP Ring — a groundbreaking HIV prevention solution designed specifically for women. This position demands a blend of imaginative content creation and analytical insight to elevate the initiative’s online profile and effectively engage key target groups.

Core Responsibilities

The Social Media Manager will play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering a content strategy that supports broader educational and communication objectives surrounding the PrEP Ring initiative. Responsibilities include:

  • Designing and implementing a cohesive social media plan tailored to the project’s awareness and engagement goals.
  • Ensuring that all digital content complies with licensing terms and adheres to relevant copyright and legal standards.
  • Producing culturally sensitive and compelling multimedia content, including posts, reels, stories, and TikToks.
  • Overseeing the scheduling and publishing of content across all major social channels.
  • Interacting with online audiences by responding to comments and messages accurately and professionally.
  • Managing paid advertising campaigns across relevant platforms to maximise reach and impact.
  • Fostering a sense of community and strengthening the visibility of the initiative’s digital presence.
  • Coordinating with advocacy groups, youth representatives, and external content creators to amplify messaging.
  • Working in close collaboration with cross-functional teams, including Product Access & Partnerships and Communications.
  • Monitoring campaign performance through analytics tools and generating monthly reports with actionable insights.
  • Staying informed about evolving social media trends, formats, and technologies to maintain fresh and effective content strategies.

Skills & Requirements

Education and Professional Background
Candidates should possess a relevant tertiary qualification alongside a strong track record in social media management, with demonstrable success in building and nurturing online communities. Experience within sectors such as health, youth engagement, or international development is especially valued.

Technical Skills and Competencies

  • Proficiency in design and video editing tools such as Canva, CapCut, or comparable platforms.
  • Strong copywriting ability, with the skill to craft platform-specific captions that resonate with varied audiences.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication capabilities, paired with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strategic understanding of how to expand reach and engagement through both organic tactics and paid media campaigns.
  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision.
  • In-depth familiarity with youth and women’s digital cultures, languages, and content trends.
  • Competence in interpreting social media analytics and adjusting content plans based on performance metrics.
  • Desirable: Previous involvement in public health, HIV prevention, or gender equity-focused digital campaigns.

Important Information

This is a fixed-term contract position spanning 18 months, requiring a commitment of approximately 10 to 15 hours per week.
