Job Overview

The Faculty, a trusted leader in online education across South Africa, is growing its dynamic team. The organisation is seeking passionate, professional, and energetic Online English Tutors to join its expanding network of educators. This opportunity is open to experienced teachers, recent graduates, and students with a love for teaching and helping others succeed. The Faculty offers both part-time and full-time flexible schedules, tailored to suit individual availability and lifestyle.

Core Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging and interactive conversational English lessons to adult learners.
  • Review and familiarise oneself with pre-prepared lesson materials before each session.
  • Conduct dynamic, student-focused classes that encourage active participation.
  • Provide guidance and support to learners from a variety of cultural and global backgrounds.
  • Maintain a positive, professional, and supportive virtual classroom atmosphere.
  • Track learner progress and offer meaningful, constructive feedback to promote improvement.

Skills & Requirements

  • Possession of a Matric certificate is essential.
  • A Bachelor’s degree is highly preferred.
  • A 120-hour TEFL or TESOL certification is required.
  • Prior teaching experience, particularly in an online environment, will be considered an advantage.
  • Exceptional command of spoken and written English, with a clear and neutral accent.
  • Confidence in using Zoom and other standard digital teaching tools.
  • Strong virtual classroom presence and effective communication abilities.

Equipment & Infrastructure

  • Laptop/PC with Intel® Core™ i5 or higher and 8GB RAM
  • Stable fibre internet with 25 Mbps download/upload minimum (LAN cable connection only)
  • Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS) that provides 4–5 hours of backup power
  • Separate mini-UPS to keep your fibre router powered during outages
  • Noise-cancelling headset, HD webcam, and a quiet, professional workspace

Hours

Tutors have the flexibility to select their preferred teaching schedules from the available time blocks listed below. Classes are scheduled two weeks in advance and organised into two-hour teaching sessions:

  • Monday to Friday: 16:00 – 03:00 SAST
  • Monday to Friday: 19:00 – 05:00 SAST
  • Wednesday to Sunday: 10:00 – 19:00 SAST
  • Wednesday to Sunday: 18:00 – 03:00 SAST
  • Saturday to Wednesday: 10:00 – 19:00 SAST
  • Saturday to Wednesday: 18:00 – 03:00 SAST
