Role Overview
The Junior Designer operates as part of a collaborative team, supporting the creation and refinement of design solutions within established frameworks. This role plays a key part in addressing specific design challenges at a functional level, contributing to both digital and service-based products by adhering to best practices within their area of expertise.
Professionals in this position typically have a keen interest in one or more design disciplines, such as UX, UI, service design, user research, prototyping, or content strategy. They develop their skills progressively by engaging in focused project work, bringing creativity and curiosity to each task.

Design Execution & Problem-Solving

Skills & Requirements
- Demonstrates a clear appreciation for delivering exceptional customer experiences
- Possesses foundational knowledge in design areas such as UX, UI, service design, user research, prototyping, or content strategy
- Organised and capable of managing time effectively to meet deadlines
- Approaches tasks with a solution-focused mindset and creative thinking, especially when tackling straightforward challenges
- Shows the ability to contribute design work within at least one key design discipline
- Familiarity with standard design tools is beneficial, though not essential
Education and Experience
- Holds a qualification equivalent to NQF Level 6
- Bachelor’s Degree and Advanced Diplomas in Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, or Life Sciences (Required)
- Has at least one year of practical experience in technical design or customer-focused roles within the financial services sector
- Can showcase work that reflects a strong focus on customer-centred design approaches
- Demonstrates experience in user research activities such as benchmarking, heuristic evaluations, surveys, data analysis, stakeholder interviews, focus groups, contextual studies, or usability testing (academic project work may be considered)
- Able to express design concepts through various mediums such as sketches, digital tools, interactive prototypes, physical models, and journey mapping
