Job Overview

In response to significant growth, Summit 7 Marketing is looking to appoint a proactive and creative Junior Content & Social Media Specialist to join its established team.

Role Expectations
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing content across up to 10 client accounts. This includes producing an average of up to five scheduled posts per day across platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and TikTok/Reels, along with creating 1–3 email campaigns per client each month.

This is a key, hands-on position focused on delivering high-quality, on-brand content for both social media and email marketing channels. The ideal applicant will possess strong writing skills, basic design capabilities, and a solid understanding of content optimisation principles.

Core Responsibilities

1. Content Creation and Execution (Primary Function)

  • Develop daily content, including copy and visuals, for client social media platforms in accordance with approved content calendars and brand guidelines.
  • Produce engaging email marketing copy for newsletters, promotional campaigns, and automated customer journeys.
  • Collaborate with account managers to ensure all content supports client marketing objectives and campaign strategies.

2. Design and Visual Support (As Required)

  • Create visually appealing assets such as graphics, carousels, stories, and short-form videos (Reels/TikToks, 15–30 seconds) using Canva templates.
  • Ensure all visual content is consistent with each client’s brand identity, including fonts, colours, and logos.
  • Source and edit relevant stock images or video content when client-provided assets are unavailable.

3. Strategy and Optimisation

  • Implement SEO best practices by incorporating keywords, meta descriptions, and appropriate link structures into email and social media content.
  • Stay updated on current social media trends, platform algorithm changes, and industry best practices.
  • Contribute to monthly content performance reports by providing basic insights into high-performing content.

4. General Support and Collaboration

  • Provide assistance with additional tasks as needed in support of a small agency environment, ensuring consistent service delivery and client satisfaction.
  • Offer support during team member absences and receive the same in return when unavailable.

Skills & Requirements

  • Experience: 1–3 years of professional experience in content creation, social media management, or a related digital marketing role.
  • Writing Ability: Excellent written communication skills, supported by a strong portfolio showcasing the ability to tailor tone and style to suit various brands.
  • Design Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in Canva for graphic design and basic video editing. Experience with Adobe Creative Suite is advantageous but not essential at this level.
  • SEO Knowledge: A solid understanding of SEO principles and their application in content creation.
  • Social Media Tools: Experience using social media scheduling platforms such as Zoho Social or Meta Business Suite.
  • Education: A relevant qualification in Marketing, Communications, or a related field is preferred.
  • Personal Attributes: Proactive mindset, strong attention to detail, and excellent time management skills.

Additional Information

  • This position is open exclusively to South African citizens or individuals holding a permanent work permit in South Africa.
  • Applicants must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of the Pretoria East (Garsfontein) offices. Access to reliable personal transport is highly preferred.
