Job Overview
Berlitz students seek more than language proficiency, they aim to develop cultural understanding as well. The Part-Time, Freelance English Instructor role offers the opportunity to work in a diverse, multicultural environment with a flexible schedule and a casual dress code. Instructors apply the Berlitz Method to create an engaging, supportive classroom atmosphere where learners are encouraged to practice confidently and stay motivated to reach their language goals.
Berlitz provides comprehensive, flexible training in the Berlitz Method, along with access to proprietary platforms and technology to support effective lesson delivery.
All instructional resources and student coordination are provided by Berlitz allowing instructors to focus solely on delivering high-quality language instruction.
Core Responsibilities
- Review and prepare lesson materials in advance, selecting appropriate content and tailoring instruction to meet individual learner needs.
- Foster a supportive, low-pressure learning environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes and actively experimenting with the language.
- Record and track student progress following each session.
- Maintain a teaching schedule based on personal availability, with a commitment to delivering approximately 15–20 hours of instruction per week.
Skills & Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree or comparable professional experience.
- Previous teaching experience is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Native or near-native proficiency in English.
- Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
Technical Requirements
- Internet connection with a minimum speed of 15 Mbps download and 15 Mbps upload.
- Reliable wired internet connection (wireless/Wi-Fi connections are not supported).
- Desktop or laptop computer running Windows 10 or later, or macOS 11 or later (Linux operating systems are not supported).
- USB headset and a functioning camera.
- In regions affected by load shedding, access to a backup power solution to support devices is required.
- Computer specifications with at least a 2 GHz processor and a minimum of 4 GB (4096 MB) of RAM.
