Firewater, a dynamic digital marketing agency based in Johannesburg, is seeking a Digital Marketer & Social Media Manager with sharp attention to detail, a passion for all things digital, and a strategic mindset.

This role is ideal for someone who goes beyond selfies and hashtags—someone who understands the power of digital to drive business outcomes. The successful candidate will bring both creativity and commercial acumen to the table, using digital marketing tools and platforms to deliver measurable results for Firewater’s diverse portfolio of clients.

This is a hybrid role requiring some in-office presence in Sandton, making it well-suited for South African digital professionals looking for a flexible yet hands-on agency environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute content strategies in collaboration with the wider creative team.
  • Manage daily community engagement and social media monitoring across multiple accounts.
  • Schedule and publish content in alignment with the approved content calendar.
  • Engage meaningfully with audiences on platforms including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, X (Twitter), YouTube, and Pinterest—always maintaining brand voice and tone.
  • Build and maintain content calendars in line with best practices for each platform.
  • Use tools such as Sociality and Meta Business Manager for social media scheduling and analytics.
  • Develop and implement paid media strategies.
  • Manage digital advertising campaigns across platforms: Google, Meta, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, and TikTok.
  • Work with Google Analytics and similar tools to track performance and prepare client reports.
  • Execute targeted email marketing campaigns.

Candidate Requirements

Experience & Background

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in digital or social media marketing.
  • Previous agency experience is advantageous.
  • Experience working with influencers or content creators is a bonus.

Technical Skills

  • Strong grasp of SEO tools and platforms (e.g., SEMrush, Ahrefs, GTmetrix, Google Search Console).
  • Familiarity with Google Ads, Meta Ads Manager, and campaign analytics tools.
  • Competency in social scheduling and management platforms (e.g., Sociality, Hootsuite).
  • Proficient in the full Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Analytics, etc.).
  • Excellent command of English grammar and spelling; fluency in other languages is a plus.

Soft Skills

  • Exceptional attention to detail and design aesthetics.
  • Strong communication and client service skills.
  • Self-driven with the ability to work independently while collaborating with a team.
  • Highly responsive and eager to exceed expectations.

Work Arrangement

This is a hybrid position based in Johannesburg, South Africa. Candidates should be available to work from the Sandton office a few days each week, with flexibility to work remotely on others.
