Job Overview
The role seeks a creative and detail-oriented Social Media Manager specialising in organic strategy, content direction, and community growth. The successful candidate will oversee multiple lifestyle, hospitality, and professional brands, ensuring each maintains a distinctive and consistent voice across all platforms. This position focuses on developing purposeful content to enhance brand awareness, engagement, and credibility, rather than managing paid media campaigns.
The Social Media Manager will work closely with design, copy, and account teams to plan, brief, and execute content that is visually compelling, strategically aligned, and faithfully reflects each brand’s tone and style.

Core Responsibilities
Content Strategy & Planning
- Develop and oversee monthly organic content strategies and calendars for each brand.
- Plan content around seasonal events and relevant topical moments.
- Conduct trend research and keyword analysis to guide captions and content themes.
- Ensure a consistent brand tone and high-quality output across all social platforms.
Creative Direction & Collaboration
- Produce clear, detailed design briefs outlining format, messaging, and creative direction.
- Collaborate closely with design and copy teams to maintain alignment and quality standards.
- Review captions and visuals to ensure tone, accuracy, and engagement optimisation.
- Create or refine design assets as needed using Figma or Canva.
Workflow Management
- Supervise content production from concept through scheduling using Asana.
- Track tasks, deadlines, and approvals to ensure timely delivery of all content.
- Coordinate cross-team efforts to maintain efficiency and consistent workflow.
Community Engagement & Visibility
- Foster weekly engagement to build brand visibility and authentic community connections.
- Interact thoughtfully with relevant profiles, hashtags, and posts.
- Monitor, track, and report engagement metrics to assess impact and consistency.
Chef/Founder Features (where applicable)
- Identify and coordinate social and web features with chefs, founders, or brand owners.
- Manage outreach, draft content, and oversee submissions for social and online platforms.
- Collaborate with design and copy teams to finalise feature assets.
Skills & Requirements
- At least five years of experience managing organic social media for multiple brands or clients.
- Demonstrated expertise in content planning, strategy development, and execution.
- Proficient in Asana, Figma, and Canva.
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
- Solid understanding of social media platform algorithms and best practices for engagement.
- Experience integrating SEO insights into content planning.
- Highly organised with exceptional attention to detail.

- Position: Social Media Manager (Organic Content & Strategy)
- Location: Remote, with candidates required to be based in Cape Town
- Employment Type: Permanent contractor on a retainer basis

- Working Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 10:00 – 18:00 SAST

- Compensation: Competitive, commensurate with a minimum of five years’ experience
