The company is now hiring in South Africa to increase capacity and strengthen team redundancy. Successful candidates will collaborate directly with the Lead Developer to design and deliver high-performance projects for clients.
Job Overview
The role involves developing websites, implementing tracking systems, creating dashboards, and addressing a variety of technical challenges presented by clients. This is a hands-on development position within a marketing-focused environment, requiring comfort and proficiency with both coding and data analysis.
Core Responsibilities
On a day-to-day basis, the role includes:
- Building and maintaining websites across platforms such as WordPress, WooCommerce, Shopify, Webflow, and occasionally bespoke solutions.
- Writing clean, efficient vanilla code without relying on Bootstrap, jQuery, or unnecessary dependencies.
- Developing custom WordPress themes and reusable components.
- Implementing comprehensive conversion tracking, including Google Analytics 4, Google Tag Manager, Meta Pixel, LinkedIn Insight Tag, Microsoft Ads, Enhanced Conversions, and Offline Conversions.
- Integrating websites with CRMs and marketing platforms such as HubSpot and Salesforce.
- Creating reports and dashboards using Google Looker Studio.
- Optimising website speed and Core Web Vitals performance.
- Setting up and managing A/B tests to improve user experience and conversions.
- Working with APIs (REST, JSON) to connect systems effectively.
- Coding responsive HTML email templates.
- Implementing technical SEO best practices.
- Debugging tracking issues and resolving data discrepancies.
Skills and Requirements
Essential Qualifications:
- 2–4 years of experience in web development.
- Proficiency with modern development tooling, including AI-assisted tools such as Copilot, Cursor, ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini, to accelerate engineering workflows. The ideal candidate functions as an “AI Orchestrator,” capable of independently coding and critically reviewing AI-generated suggestions.
- Expertise in custom WordPress theme development, avoiding reliance on page builders.
- Strong PHP skills with object-oriented programming (OOP); clean, maintainable code is required.
- Proficiency in vanilla JavaScript (ES6+) and CSS/SASS, with a solid understanding of the cascade and no dependency on heavy frameworks.
- Daily use of Git for version control.
- Experience working in a local development environment; direct live-site editing is not acceptable.
- Data literacy, including experience with Google Analytics 4 and Google Tag Manager.
- Reliable internet connection and a suitable workspace for remote work.
- Availability to work UK hours or with significant overlap.
Desirable Skills:
- SQL and database querying.
- Google Looker Studio reporting.
- Server-side tracking and conversion APIs.
- CRM integration experience (HubSpot, Salesforce).
- Technical SEO and site auditing.
- Knowledge of JSON-LD (Schema.org) and structured data.
- Experience with vector graphics (SVG).
- Familiarity with Webflow and Shopify.
- Exposure to A/B testing platforms such as VWO, Convert, or Optimizely.
